UX Case Study
Giftmate
A little something goes a long way
This was the capstone project for a User Experience Design course at General Assembly taught by Matthew Reiswig. In 2023, I earned a UX Design certificate and developed the concept for Giftmate, an all-in-one gifting app that sends you reminders for upcoming occasions, lets you shop recommended gifts in-app, and rewards you for shopping.
What I did: User Research • Affinity Mapping • Journey Mapping • Personas • Sketching • Wireframing • Usability Testing • Prototyping
What I used: Figma • Adobe Illustrator • Adobe Photoshop • Miro
Problem Space
Busy adults need a better way to handle gifting logistics to enjoy the meaningful act of gift-giving without the anxiety of last minute gift shopping.
Goal: Develop a gift-shopping solution that builds good gifting habits by facilitating gifting logistics
Solution
Considering the problem, I developed the concept for Giftmate, a gifting app that sends you reminders for upcoming occasions, lets you shop recommended gifts in-app, and rewards you for shopping.
High-Fidelity Wireframes
I designed the high-fidelity wireframes in Figma, with some of the more complex elements designed in Adobe Illustrator.
Design System
I created the style guide for the app to level up my prototypes and maintain design consistency.
Prototyping and Usability Testing
I began the design process with solution sketching (paper and sharpie), which helped me iterate a multitude of ideas quickly.
Once I reached an optimal user flow, I used my sketches to design low-fidelity wireframes in Figma. I conducted moderated usability tests based off of the low-fidelity wireframes. I used the feedback gathered from testing to create a high fidelity wireframe and prototypte.
